​Hambledon State School offers a non-compulsory preparatory year. Prep is a specially designed educational program that will help children make a smoother transition into year 1 and set the foundation for life-long learning.

When can my child start Prep?​

Children born between 1 July 2012 and 30 June 2013 will be eligible for the preparatory year of schooling in 2018. They will need to be five by 30 June in the year they start in the preparatory class. The preparatory year is non-compulsory however those who are enrolled must attend full-time.

The compulsory school starting age has increased by six months. Children must be six by 30 June in the year they enrol in year 1.

When can I enrol my child in Prep?

Hambledon State School starts accepting Prep enrolments in April of the year BEFORE the child is due to start Prep.

Birth Certificate

A birth certificate must be sighted by our office staff for all students enrolling into Prep, year 1 or year 2.
